Our care team welcomed these 65 new patients into Hospice care – 29 with non-cancer conditions and a high number of 36 with cancer. Each new referral represents a person and their whānau stepping into a new chapter, and we’re there to walk alongside them.
In total, we cared for 256 patients across the month. At Te Rangimarie, our specialist inpatient unit, 20 patients received high-level care – whether for respite, complex symptom management, or in their final days.
Our after-hours workload was more manageable at 470 contacts – each one a moment where our nurses provided reassurance, advice, or urgent help outside “normal” hours.
We farewelled 39 people this month. More often than not, they died at home – surrounded by their loved ones in the place they most wished to be. Our support for their whānau continued beyond that moment, as we know the journey doesn’t end there.
Every number reflects care, compassion, and dignity.
Every story reminds us why our work matters.
