Our Kaiāwhina and Kaitakawaenga, are here to provide guidance and support to patients and their whānau.
What Our Kaiāwhina and Kaitakawaenga Offer
Flexible Meeting Locations: Meeting with you at your home, Te Rangimarie (Hospice in-patient unit), on the marae, or any other setting that suits your needs.
Cultural and Spiritual Discussions
Patients and whānau can engage in conversations about cultural and spiritual needs.
Offering guidance on tikanga Māori (cultural practices), assist in planning for future care, and provide insights into tangihanga (funeral ceremonies).
Whānau Hui and Cultural Practices
Our Kaiāwhina and Kaitakawaenga can assist with organising whānau hui (meetings), conducting karakia (prayer), leading waiata (songs), and offering overall cultural advice and support.
Te Kahu Pairuri ki Taranaki are guided by Mauri Mate, Māori-Centric Framework for End-of-Life Care (see more)
Using the Mauri Mate framework, designed by Māori for Hospices, we ensure our practices respect the unique needs and values of the Māori people during their end-of-life journey.
Community Linkages
Kaiāwhina and Kaitakawaenga can establish connections between whānau and community groups, Marae, Ministers, and Kaumatua, fostering a sense of community support. Providing support to anyone of any Iwi affiliation.
