At Te Kahu Pairuri Hospice Taranaki, our Hospice Champions are a special group of people. They stand beside us not only as generous supporters, but as respected leaders and values-driven members of our community who care deeply about those facing the end of life.
Becoming a Hospice Champion is about hitting a unique sweet spot — it’s a trusted and meaningful way to give, while also being an opportunity to stand alongside others who are known for doing good in our region. It’s where heartfelt compassion meets thoughtful leadership.
We were delighted to host a recent gathering of our Champions here at Te Rangimarie Hospice (our Hospice Hub on David St). It was a warm and inspiring evening to reconnect, reflect, and welcome new members into the fold.
We’re thrilled to introduce Bernadette and Paul Bourke, along with Carol and Royce Dimock, as the newest Hospice Champions. Each couple was formally welcomed and presented with a certificate acknowledging their commitment to care and community.
The evening was brought to life by guest speakers Peter McDonald, our passionate Patron, and the vivacious Margaret Doyle, who generously shared her personal experience of the care she receives from our Hospice team. Her presence and words were a moving reminder of why this work matters so deeply — and how the generosity of our Champions makes it all possible.
Our Champions help ensure that compassionate, personalised care is always available for those navigating the final stage of life. Their collective support makes a tangible difference in the lives of patients and whānau throughout our region.
As one whakataukī so beautifully reminds us:
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini.
Success is not the work of an individual, but the work of the team.
To all our Champions — new and longstanding — thank you for standing with us.
