What is Creative Art Therapy?

Creative arts therapies are based on the idea that creativity enhances wellbeing and is a natural part of all cultures and human experiences. This therapy uses different creative activities in a supportive relationship with a trained therapist. It looks at the whole person, including their emotions, thoughts, body and spirit, and fits well with traditional ways of understanding health and wellbeing.

How does Creative Arts Therapy Work?

Creative arts therapies use creative activities to help clients explore and express emotions that are hard to put into words. These methods are innovative, engaging, and practical.

Who can Access Creative Arts Therapy?

This form of therapy is offered to all Hospice patients and their families and whānau. Creative arts therapy is open to people of all ages, offering significant benefits to children, adolescents, and individuals with varying needs and abilities. Beneficial for both adults and youth, it can be especially helpful during pre- or post-bereavement periods.
