The hospice palliative care service complements your GP, who remains a vital part of your care team, continuing to review you, write prescriptions, and complete any necessary paperwork.

Our Hospice team of skilled and committed nurses, doctors, social workers, support services, and a pharmacist will work alongside you and your GP to manage your care.

Services We Offer:

As your condition changes, you may find the following services beneficial:

  • Specialist support by our nurses in your home.
  • Medical support for your GP from our specialist palliative care doctors.
  • Admission to our inpatient hospice (Te Rangimarie) if needed.
  • Counselling, bereavement services, and spiritual care.
  • Provision of necessary equipment.
  • Biography service.
  • Respite care.
  • Education and training for your caregivers.
  • Cultural support and Māori liaison Kaitakawaenga.

Care is provided in any setting: at your home, in a residential care facility (rest home), in Base or Hawera hospitals, or within the hospice itself, depending on your needs at the time.
