Everyone’s experience of dying is different, and it can be
difficult to know what to expect. As a person’s illness progresses, their body
gradually begins to slow down. They may sleep more, become less interested in
food and drink, and spend less time awake or communicating. Changes in
breathing, circulation and awareness are also common.
For many people, these changes are a natural part of the
dying process. Our Hospice team can support you and your whānau to understand
what is happening, manage any symptoms and provide comfort, dignity and
reassurance.
We have a Care Video – Understanding the Final Days
of Life, which explains some of the changes you may notice and what you can
expect. [Watch
